In Der Schaum der Tage (The Foam of Days), Hermann Reimer creates an interior that appears at once familiar and strangely removed from reality. The carefully composed pictorial space combines figurative painting with painterly overlays and ornamental fragments. Patterns, translucent layers of color, and deliberately unfinished passages disrupt the illusion of reality, evoking memory, perception, and the fragility of the moment. The interior thus becomes a psychological space in which external reality and inner states of mind merge seamlessly.

About the Artist Hermann Reimer

Hermann Reimer (*1959, Münster, Germany) is a German painter and draftsman who lives and works in Berlin. After completing a degree in physics in 1983, he turned to the visual arts and studied painting at the Berlin University of the Arts (formerly Hochschule der Künste Berlin) from 1984 to 1989. In 1990, he became a Meisterschüler (master student) of Professor Klaus Fußmann.

Reimer's work encompasses primarily oil paintings, watercolors, and drawings. He is particularly known for his atmospheric interiors and landscapes, in which light, space, and memory play a central role. His paintings combine figurative representation with poetic and, at times, subtly surreal elements.

Since the 1990s, Hermann Reimer has exhibited regularly in galleries, art associations, and at international art fairs. His works are held in both private and public collections in Germany and abroad.
