The painting is characterized by luminous shades of blue, white, and violet, evoking the vastness of the sea, the open sky, and the striking chalk cliffs in a richly atmospheric light. Albrecht Gehse's distinctive expressive brushwork, combined with his multilayered technique enhanced by collage elements, merges representational motifs with a free, almost abstract painterly language. Landscape and figures dissolve into a harmonious unity, conveying a profound sense of tranquility, melancholy, and timeless beauty.
