In this quiet interior, Hermann Reimer transforms everyday objects into a scene imbued with a subtle sense of memory and mystery. A simple sideboard holding a blue vase with yellow flowers forms the focal point of the composition. Above it hangs the portrait of a young woman, whose calm gaze lends the space an almost narrative presence. The contrasting treatment of the walls—a geometric diamond pattern on the left and a dark, textured surface on the right—creates a compelling balance between decorative order and painterly freedom. The shimmering green floor, structured by a perspectival grid, enhances the spatial depth and gives the interior a subtly surreal quality.

About the Artist Hermann Reimer

Hermann Reimer (*1959, Münster, Germany) is a German painter and draftsman who lives and works in Berlin. After completing a degree in physics in 1983, he turned to the visual arts and studied painting at the Berlin University of the Arts (formerly Hochschule der Künste Berlin) from 1984 to 1989. In 1990, he became a Meisterschüler (master student) of Professor Klaus Fußmann.

Reimer's work encompasses primarily oil paintings, watercolors, and drawings. He is particularly known for his atmospheric interiors and landscapes, in which light, space, and memory play a central role. His paintings combine figurative representation with poetic and, at times, subtly surreal elements.

Since the 1990s, Hermann Reimer has exhibited regularly in galleries, art associations, and at international art fairs. His works are held in both private and public collections in Germany and abroad.
