The French artist Sylvain Dubrunfaut (*1979) is a painter and draughtsman. He lives and works in Lille. His works are usually based on his own photographs and videos. Dubrunfaut photographs and films the people around him, selecting from this material the one moment that he then paints. In the transition from camera to brush, mere likeness gives way to something more. At the heart of his work is the atmosphere of light, which brings his subjects - often young people - into particular focus. Dubrunfaut regularly exhibits in France and Belgium. His works are represented in, among others, public collections in northern France.
